I first qualified to teach matwork and have done the bulk of my training with Body Control Pilates.
Last weekend they announced:
…key Body Control Pilates activities are being purchased by Balanced Body Inc, based in Sacramento, California. A signed agreement in principle is in place and everything will be completed in the coming weeks. This includes all of our teacher training and professional development, our studio and classes, and Body Control Pilates Central. The Body Control Pilates Association will remain as the not-for-profit membership body for Body Control Pilates teachers.
…Balanced Body are, by a long way, the world’s largest Pilates company. Their main business is the development and manufacture of Pilates studio equipment and they are the clear market leaders in this sector.
Nothing is expected to change in the short term. This will affect teacher training rather than those who attend Pilates classes. You can be confident in the quality of your teacher’s training, whether from Body Control, Balanced Body or whatever new arrangement may come from this sale.
