Shin Splints

If you have pain along the front of your lower leg after exercise, particularly running, you may have shin splints. If this happens to you, follow this injury recovery guidance.

When going back to running, make sure that you build back up to your previous level gradually, warm up before each run and stretch afterwards. You should also check that your trainers are a good fit.

If things don’t improve, then you should see your GP, who may refer you for physiotherapy.

You can read more about shin splints on the BUPA running hub.
